This page provides an overall summary of the different strengths and weaknesses of each of the Final Fantasy DnD Classes, as well as the difficulty of playing a certain class. You can use the headers of the tables to order the different columns.
Class. This states the name of the class.
Archetype. This states the general archetype of the class, falling under Mage, classes that specialise in spellcasting; Rogue, a wide variety of classes that specialise in damage, skills or utility; and Warrior, classes that have limited to no spellcasting, and focus instead on weapon attacks.
Front Line (FL). This indicates the ability to stand on the front line, usually melee in focus. They are defined by the ability to take heavy hits or be incredibly difficult to hit, and divert attention from their party.
The Beat Down (BD). This indicates the ability of a class to deliver huge amounts of damage, whether in burst form, or in consistently strong DPS. While all classes can deal damage, and in different situations different classes perform better at dealing damage, there are some who are more naturally geared towards this.
Utility (UTL). Utility describes a broad range of skills. In general, classes with high utility have the ability to grant new options to the party where those options would not normally exist, such as invisibility, or the ability to breathe water. They also have high amounts of battlefield control, such as illusions, or magick that might slow down or take enemies out of the fight for a time. Classes with high utility are often more difficult to play, because of the vast array of options available to them.
Support (SUP). Not to be confused with utility, classes strong in support have the ability to bolster their party's effectiveness, improving the abilities that already exist within the party. This includes a class's ability to buff others, such as increasing their AC or damage, or a class's ability to heal.
Investigator (INV). Classes that are strong at fulfilling an Investigator role are able to find and discern more information that might be able to help with solving problems put forward in the world. These classes can clear up mysteries, recall knowledge that is helpful, or be able to to peer into a creature's motives, allowing the party to determine what to do next.
Negotiator (NEG). The negotiator is usually the party's social face. Those strong in this role usually have a leaning towards charisma, and are able to solve social situations. This includes being able to persuade or intimidate people to take a course of action, deceiving the guards to fly under the radar, or even using magick to charm people to be on your side.
Explorer / Infiltrator (EXP). Classes that specialise in this emphasise stealth in order to get into a hostile or dangerous environment, and are able to explore it, doing some reconnaissance and scouting it, bringing valuable information back to the party. These classes have abilities such as invisibility, stealth, or even magick that allows them to transform into unsuspecting creatures like ravens to gather this information.
Difficulty. Difficulty of a class doesn't indicate whether or not a class is better than another. However, it does indicate the complexity of playing the class. Classes with lower difficulty are a lot more straightforward to play, whereas classes with higher difficulty can be overwhelming to play because of the large array of options at their disposal. If you don't have any kind of RPG experience, then it is recommended to play an Easy class.
